One of the big trends in Spring and Summer 2008 is the tiered dress. Good news for some, bad news for others. This not an easy style to wear. Done right, the effect is feminine. Alluring. Done wrong, you look fat or worse still, plain ridiculous.
Tiered dresses are typically made of silk or light fabric that gives you a breezy feel. You know that romantic look especially when you are outdoors and a gentle breeze causes the layers to flow around you. Or when you walk elegantly, the layers flow beautifully over your curves, yet leaving much to the imagination.
The problem with tiers is that they add bulk. That makes tiered dresses tricky to wear unless you are rake-thin.
Still, the layers can work to your advantage. If you have small hips, a tiered dress, with the tiers concentrating around your hips downwards, would give the illusion of curvier hips. Womanly curves.
If you are small on top, tiers around your bustline would make it appear as if you have a fuller chest.
If you are skinny, tiers give you the illusion of womanly curves.
